The Taste of Annandale will have a beer garden

Audacious Alehouse co-owner Brian Reinoehl.

The Taste of Annandale will feature craft beers from Audacious Aleworks, a brewery and taproom that opened in May in Falls Church.

The festival will for the first time have an enclosed beer garden. Audacious Aleworks plans to bring four types of brews to the Oct. 13 street festival, probably including an IPA, an Oktoberfest beer, and “whatever looks good at the time,” says co-owner and head brewer Mike Frizzell.

Audacious Aleworks is at 110 E. Fairfax St. in the center of Falls Church.

Audacious Aleworks offers nearly 20 types of beer, ales, stouts, and porters, with new varieties continually introduced.

Currently popular brews include a mango-infused IPA called “There’s Something about Mango”; “7 Evil Exes,” a “sour fruit explosion” with cherry and apricot puree; “Thirsty Work,” a New England-style IPA with citrus notes; and “Lucid Dream Cream Ale,” an amber beer with hints of caramel and vanilla.

Co-owner Brian Reinoehl got the idea for opening a craft brewery after walking into Bad Wolf Brewery in Manassas five years ago and thinking, “I want to do this.” He and Frizzell learned all about beermaking, experimented in Reinoehl’s house, and sold their IT company so they could concentrate on establishing their own brewery.

Beginning in September, Audacious Aleworks will start serving food, such as pizza, sandwiches, wings, and salads. Future plans call for live music, outdoor seating, and selling brews in cans. It already sells growlers, 64 ounces of beer in bottles.

    1. You really should; it's a nice chance to get out and try something new–and you can support the community by your mere presence. It's a two-fer!

  1. This sounds great! I don't care for beer, personally, but I think it will make a nice addition to the Taste. Variety, and all that…
