This week’s crime report: assault and robbery

The Fairfax County Police Department reports the following crimes in the Annandale/Mason District in the past week:
- There was a robbery attempt in the 3400 block of Charles Street in Bailey’s Crossroads at 11:30 a.m. on June 16. A man approached the victim with a knife and demanded cash before running away. No one was injured.
- The Eternity Bridal shop at 6531 Little River Turnpike was burglarized at 4:45 a.m. on June 15. Someone entered the business after hours and took property.
- An Annandale man was charged with assault at 5:14 p.m. on June 13 on the 7400 block of Little River Turnpike in central Annandale. Wilber Hernandez, 35, assaulted a victim and ran away but police officers located him nearby. During his arrest he spat on the officers, so he was also charged with assault on a law enforcement officer.
- On June 11, a man slashed the tires of a van in the 1900 block of Patrick Henry Avenue in Seven Corners and threw a bottle at the windshield before leaving. Officers found Jose Cruz Robles, 25, nearby shortly after 5:30 p.m. and caught him as he attempted to run away. Robles was found in possession of a concealed knife and charged with destruction of property, obstruction of justice, and carrying a concealed weapon.
- There was an attempted robbery in the 7900 block of Heritage Drive in Annandale shortly before 11:30 p.m. on June 14. Four men approached the victim and demanded property. One man displayed a knife and the victim ran away. No property was taken and the victim reported injuries that were not life threatening.
