Two men charged in fatal shooting in Culmore
Fairfax County Police arrested two men in connection with the murder of a man in the Culmore area of Bailey’s Crossroads.
The victim was identified as Alder Perez Argueta, 21, of Bailey’s Crossroads. He was found by police suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The shooting happened at about 2 a.m. on May 17 at the Olde Salem Village apartments in the 6000 block of Argyle Drive.
Angel Romero Perez, 20, of Bailey’s Crossroads, was charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Candido Perez Argueta, 25, of Bailey’s Crossroads, was charged with robbery resulting in death and gang participation. Both men are being held at the Adult Detention Center on no bond.
The three men were known to one another. Detectives believe the victim was with Candido Perez Argueta and Angel Romero Perez when they attempted to rob two other people, and the victim was shot during the robbery.
Detectives believe this is an isolated incident. They are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The uptick in crime in Mason has reached a critical mass that most likely will not be irreversible.
Mason needs responsible and strong leadership to reverse these statistics. The status-quo isn’t going to cut it.
