The McDonald’s at 5603 Leesburg Pike in Bailey’s Crossroads is applying for a zoning special exception to allow a modernization project.

The restaurant’s façade and interior would be significantly updated. The exterior would have a white and muted gray color scheme.

A 1,612-square-foot addition would allow a larger kitchen area and extra space for carryout and delivery orders.

The project would also include new landscaping and pedestrian connections. The parking lot and vehicle circulation would be reconfigured to allow for a more efficient drive-through experience, including an additional lane and dual-ordering stations.

The 3,246-square-foot restaurant opened in 1999.

A public hearing before the Planning Commission is scheduled for Dec. 7.

In a separate proposal, the property owner is planning to raze an office building adjacent to the McDonald’s property to facilitate the addition and drive-through improvements.

  1. this is where my mom met my stepdad …… now I can reminisce while enduring explosive diarrhea in style ……

  2. So I’ll just mention this again. If this McD is getting renovated, the food star/Toy R Us set of businesses are getting redeveloped, than hopefully the county and/or VDOT will proactively get involved and upgrade and expand Carlin Springs road the intersections with Seminary and route 7.
