VDOT announces repaving program
The Virginia Department of Transportation’s 2024 repaving plan includes these projects in the Annandale/Mason District area:
- Columbia Pike between Barcroft Plaza and the Arlington County line.
- Leesburg Pike between Columbia Pike and the Culmore Shopping Center.
- Little River Turnpike between Evergreen Lane and Old Columbia Pike.
- Sleepy Hollow Road between Castle Place and Bay Tree Lane.
- Annandale Road between Gallows Road and the City of Falls Church.
- Backlick Road between Braddock Road and Highland Street.
- Tall Oak Court in Sleepy Hollow Woods.
- I-95 between Bren Mar Park and Springfield.
The Fairfax County Department of Transportation has scheduled a virtual meeting for April 11, 7 p.m., on paving and bike lane projects in the Braddock, Mason, and Springfield districts. Join the meeting on Teams here.
FCDOT projects in the Braddock District include bike lanes on Heming Avenue between Heming Place and Braddock Road and crosswalk improvements on Heming Avenue at Hogarth Street, Elgar Street, and Axton Street. The FCDOT website doesn’t list any bike lane or crosswalk projects in Mason District.
VDOT repaving will begin in the spring and end in November. Exact work dates will be announced approximately 10 days before the work starts. The work is usually halted during rush hours, and might occur overnight on interstates and some primary roads.
I really hope the county adds sidewalks and bike lanes on Leesburg Pike between Columbia Pike and Glen Carlyn Rd. Cycling around the Bailey’s area is pretty brutal.
What about the service road between 7463 -7419 little river turnpike. We not been replaced in 7 year patch after patch that last maybe 3 rains and 1 snow Strom. We are family of 224 condo unit. What are 2nd and 3rd class citizens. We pay taxes also.
