VietFest this weekend at Landmark Mall

Celebrate all things Vietnamese—food, entertainment, contests, culture, and much more—this weekend at the second annual VietFest at the Sears parking lot at Landmark Mall, 5801 Duke St., Alexandra.

This year’s theme is “Beautiful Vietnam.” Highlights include a pho-eating competition (1 p.m. Aug. 24 and 25), a  crawfish eating competition (12:30 p.m. both days), the Miss VietFest Pageant, VietFest’s Got Talent competition, and Mr. VietFest competition.

New events this year include the Little Vietnam Village culture, history, and art center; Lanterns by Night decorations, a lion dance, and a culture parade.

Festival-goers will be able to sample authentic cuisine from Vietnam and many other Asian countries; take part in ping pong, Chinese chess, and other competitions; enjoy traditional and modern Vietnamese music and a fashion show.

VietFest 2013 is open 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, and 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
Sunday, Aug. 26. One-day admission is $7; it’s free for children under
10 anyone wearing full Vietnamese dress (áo dài).
