Volunteer sought for Annandale Farmers Market

Britepaths seeks a “highly motivated” volunteer to coordinate the SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and the Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) program at the Annandale Farmers Market.
The market, at Mason District Park, operates on Thursday mornings, beginning May 7. The volunteer coordinator would need to be there 7 a.m.-1 p.m.
The EBT program allows individuals to use SNAP benefits (formerly known as food stamps) to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at farmers’ markets.
The volunteer would operate the SNAP terminal, dispense SNAP tokens, and help vendors and customers understand the SNAP and EBT programs. There is more information on this unpaid position here.
