Volunteers needed Saturday for Seven Corners Beautification project

Kids pick up litter in the Willston Center parking  lot during the Seven Corners cleanup event in November.

It’s spring cleaning season, and that goes for communities, as well as homes. The public is invited to take part in Seven Corners Beautification Day Saturday, April 26, 8:30-11 a.m.

Volunteers should meet at the Willston Multicultural Center, 6131 Willston Drive to pick up trash bags, gloves, and a map of the cleanup area and have some coffee. In addition to collecting litter, volunteers will plant flowers around the Willston Center area.

This project is the second Seven Corners cleanup event—the first one was in November—funded with a Fairfax County Neighborhood Enhancement Partnership Program grant to the Bailey’s Crossroads/Seven Corners Revitalization Corporation.

The long-running Culmore Cleanup also takes place this Saturday, 9 a.m.-noon. Volunteers for this event will meet at the cafeteria in Bailey’s Elementary School, 6111 Knollwood Drive, Falls Church.

Cleanup crews will collect trash along Route 7, Patrick Henry Drive, Beachway Drive, Blair Road, Columbia Pike, and side streets. After the cleanup, volunteers are invited to a free lunch at the school and a presentation on wildlife from the Hidden Oaks Nature Center.
