Anyone else blown away by the absurdly high level of crime here in our Fair district? Are any of these criminals being prosecuted or are they being let loose? This is wild
Responding to Hummer Road, I would be concerned by the relatively high number of reported assaults if I knew for a fact they were physical assaults that resulted in serious bodily injury and harm to the victim. But the information provided does not allow me to reach this conclusion because it’s my understanding that the legal definition of assault is an unwanted touching – including a push or a nudge.
Regarding the also high number of reported shoplifting cases, I think this is a situation that should be monitored. I don’t think we should allow shoplifting to get out of control, to the point that many of the supermarkets in Mason District decide to shut down.
However, I think that as citizens of Mason District we should recognize that by electing public officials who are focused on criminal justice reform and committed to not over criminalizing nonviolent crimes, we are in effect accepting a higher level of shoplifting than we experienced in the past.
All important decisions have tradeoffs, and elections matter.
The more words you write, the less sense you make. It’s truly remarkable to read your ramblings. Thanks for the good times.
Yes we are concerned about the high rates of crime. I live on hummer as well and have seen the changes over the years in annandale- linconia-cullmore. Truly sad. Protect yourself- the police can’t protect us.
