Winning lottery ticket purchased at Annandale Giant

Isaac Dompreh [Virginia Lottery]

Isaac Dompreh, a statistician from the Alexandria area of Fairfax County, won $205,000 from a lottery ticket he bought at the Giant on 7137 Columbia Pike in Annandale, the Virginia Lottery announced.

Dompreh said he hopes to use his winnings to pay off his student loans.

He used Easy Pick to randomly select five numbers (2-6-9-31-32) in the Cash 5 with EZ Match drawing on April 27. That game features a rolling jackpot starting at a minimum of $200,000. The odds of matching all five numbers to win the jackpot are 1 in 1,221,759.Ā

In addition, a player who spends an extra dollar for EZ Match receives five randomly generated numbers with a prize of up to $500 associated with each number. If those numbers match any of the numbers on the ticket for the drawing, the player wins that prize ā€“ even before the drawing is held.

  1. The lottery is a tax on the stupid. We already have legalized gambling at casinos in VA and online sports betting. Time for VA to get out of the lottery business. The government doesn’t need to facilitate people wasting their money on futile endeavors.

  2. Your post is futile. A., there are no real casinos in Virginia. B., the lottery generates a lot of money for schools, etc. C. If someone wants to spend their money on the lottery or whatever else, what business is it of yours?
