Work to start on day center/banquet hall in 2020

This building will become an adult day center and banquet hall.

Work on the Sunflower adult daycare center and banquet hall on the site of the now-closed Kids’ Choice indoor sports center on Ravensworth Road in Annandale should begin within the next few months.

The Board of Supervisors approved the project in March 2018. The new facility will serve as a day care center for senior adults during weekdays and could be rented for private parties on evenings and weekends.

Demolition of the Kids’ Choice building and the Ravensworth service station next door should start this spring, says Helen Bae, who co-owns the property with her husband, Young. They also own the Han Gang restaurant on the corner of Ravensworth Road and Little River Turnpike. Construction of the new Sunflower building would start in 2021.

Bae had hoped the project would have started sooner, but says the Fairfax County permitting process is taking longer than anticipated.

Nearby neighbors received a notice in December advising them that the site plan is being reviewed by Fairfax County Land Development Services and that they can submit comments on it.
