Yummy Yummy Beep Beep offers Filipino food on weekends
Thanks to the Yummy Yummy Beep Beep mobile eatery, you can now get Filipino food in Annandale. The truck parks by the newsstand on Columbia Pike, across from the Annandale Shopping Center, on Saturday and Sundays, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. There are a couple of shaded tables behind the truck.
Among the menu items are tapsilog (beef), daingna baligus (“milk fish” prepared with vinegar and garlic), longganisa (pork sausage), tocino (sweet, marinated pork), and sisig (sizzling tofu with pork). Most entrees are $6.50 and come with rice; a delicious, crunchy papaya salad; and eggs. The eggs are generally sunny side up, but you can request scrambled. Fried chicken and pork chops are available for the less adventurous. If you are wondering how to feed a large crowd at a party, you can order a whole barbequed pig for $350. For orders, call 301/263-4473.The Vasquez family (Espie and Donnie and their daughter Gladys) own the Yummy Yummy Beep Beep and do all the cooking on the truck. Gladys’ fiancé, who worked at the nearby Shell station before it closed, also helps out. The family lives in Kensington, Md., and Espie works as a home health aide during the week. They chose Annandale because of the large number of Filipino-Americans here.
People from the Philippines are just a little over 1 percent of Annandale’s population, but that’s about 650 people.

I tried this one time. Food is good, but i have to comment on something. The styrofoam container is too big, too much rice, and little food for the price. This is comparing to Manila Oriental, which is about 4 to 5 miles away. If they can come close to the way Manila Oriental serves, they can compete.
