Annandale music educators honored
Ær Queen, the music teacher at Braddock Elementary School in Annandale, and Alberto Rodriquez, the orchestra director at Mount Vernon High School, are among the 212 quarterfinalists from across the country for the 2024 GRAMMY Music Educator Award.
Annie Ray, the strings teacher at Annandale High School is a legacy applicant who is also eligible to win the Music Educator of the Year Award.
The award honors teachers who have made “a significant and lasting contribution to the field of music education” and who demonstrate a commitment to maintaining music education in the schools. The award is open to public and private educators teaching kindergarten through college-level classes.
The Recording Academy and GRAMMY Museum will announce the semifinalists in September.
The winner will be flown to Los Angeles to attend the 2024 GRAMMY Awards. All 10 finalists will receive a $1,000 honorarium, and their schools will receive matching grants. The 15 semifinalists will receive $500 plus matching school grants.
