Anthony’s Restaurant reopens on Annandale Road

The new Anthony’s Restaurant at 3000 Annandale Road, Falls Church, had a “soft opening” Aug. 11 and is already doing a brisk business. An official opening ceremony will take place later this month, says Manager Pete Zoutis.

It’s the latest incarnation of a family-run restaurant that opened in 1972 in Falls Church. Long-time customers were saddened when that place, on Broad Street, closed just over a year ago but were heartened to learn it would reopen in the new Bill Page shopping center.

Anthony’s serves a mix of Italian food—pizza, pasta, lasagna, and the like—along with burgers, sandwiches, seafood, and Greek specialties, reflecting the heritage of the founders, Anthony and Faye Yiannarakis.

The new place, with room for 190 diners, is slightly smaller than the old one. The menu has the same classic dishes as before, but there are a few more pasta and fried seafood items. It opens at 8 a.m. for breakfast on weekends and 11 a.m. the rest of the week.

About 95 percent of the old employees have come back, says Zoutis, including George Syrimis, who’s been Anthony’s pizza man for 40 years. Zoutis is married to the Yiannarakis’ daughter, Penny, who also works there.

The Bill Page shopping center will also have a Walgreens, dry cleaners, dentist office, and AT&T store. A BB&T bank is already open.

  1. We ate there on opening night. Still busy at 8:00 p.m. Food was yummy – it was great to see the family there and all their customers welcoming them to the neighborhood!

  2. So happy to see it's back! I hope the food is good. I went to the Centreville location a few times and the food there is better than the old Broad Street location.
