Beech Tree ES to get a new principal
Karim Daugherty is moving on after 13 as principal of Beech Tree Elementary School.
Daugherty, a 20-year veteran with Fairfax County Public Schools, has accepted a position as principal of Oak Street Elementary School in Falls Church City.
Stephanie Carpenter, the current assistant principal at Westlawn Elementary School, will serve as acting principal at Beech Tree, effective Aug. 15, until a new principal is appointed.
The FCPS Region 2 Office will announce the principal selection process, which will include community involvement.
“Being your principal has been the highlight of my professional journey as an educator,” Daugherty wrote in an email to Beech Tree families. “As a school community, we have been able to accomplish incredible things,” such as collaborative learning teams, weekly professional development, academic and socio-emotional support sessions, and an outstanding partnership with the PTA.
