Bike to Work Day will have a pit stop at the Annandale library
For the first time since Bike to Work Day was established 22 years ago in the D.C. area, there will be a pit stop at George Mason Regional Library in Annandale.
Bike to Work Day is May 19. Commuter Connections and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association are coordinating the event with the goal of raising awareness about the benefits of riding a bike to work: It’s healthy, environmentally friendly, and saves money.
The Fairfax Alliance for Better Bicycling is hosting the Bike to Work Day pit stop at the library, located at 7001 Little River Turnpike, from 6:30-9 a.m. It’s one of 28 pit stops in Fairfax County.
All cyclists who register for the event online by May 12 will get a free T-shirt. The pit stop will offer free refreshments, chances to win a regional raffle for a free bike, and a local drawing for a gift card to Great American Restaurants. Cyclists do not need to be present to win.
Bike to Work Day is open to bicyclists of all ability levels. It’s a great opportunity for new and beginning riders to try bicycle commuting for the first time. There will be many other bicyclists who will be participating this year who have never commuted by bike before.
Employees working from home are also encouraged to register and bike to the Annandale pit stop before starting the workday.

I hope they don’t start saying “Annandale is the pits” 😂
