Bowlero will become Lucky Strike
The Bowlero bowling alley in Annandale will soon be renamed Lucky Strike.
The change follows the move by the Bowlero Corp. last December to rebrand as Lucky Strike Entertainment, reflecting its expanded mission to offer more than traditional bowling.
Meanwhile, the Annandale location, at 4245 Markham Street, will carry out improvements to enhance the customer experience, said Assistant General Manager Chad Richards.
The biggest change is a new system for picking up the pins on the bowling lanes. Strings are being attached to the pins to prevent them from getting stuck in the back, Richards said. That will result in less maintenance and better bowling, as downed pins won’t be in the way. The new system has already been installed in lanes one to eight.
New games will be installed in the arcade area, and the menu will be upgraded. The new Lucky Strike signs and other improvements should be in place within the next couple of months.
Meanwhile, the bowling alley has three new lemonade flavors – cotton candy, dragonfruit, and passionfruit.
Bowlero is offering an unlimited Night Strike bowling special Monday-Thursday, 7 p.m.-12 a.m. for $19.99 per person, including shoe rentals.
The original bowling alley at that location, Annandale Lanes, was built in 1960. The building underwent an extensive renovation and reopened as Bowlero in early 2020.
We just got on one of the new lanes.

Why, I like them. You dont get bad racks. So what if you dont get messengers. You can get lucky with a string pins carry. There are chances you will get a messenger but not like the free fall pins.

I will believe in string bowling, when they put strings in for the Pro Tour.
The USBC certified string pins for tournament play last year and the pros have already bowled a televised tournament using string pins (PBA all-star weekend). They are also being used in several PBA regionals.

They do have strings in the pro tour, it’s only for singles bowling and a specific tournament.
Bowlero owns the pro tour. Careful what you wish for.
Bowlero/Lucky Strike sucks! Not about bowlers and bowling. They are nothing more than modern day arcades, where bowling is just another game.

String pins and Bowlero have ruined the sport of bowling. My local bowling alley installed sting pins in may. Everyone’s average has gone down at least 10 pins or more, plus you don’t get the pin action you get with real bowling. You don’t see the pba or pwba bowling on string pins! Bowlero and sting pins suck!
So your Average dropped. Then next year if you bowl in a free fall tournament you have an advantage then.

Our younger generational people in decision making areas of management has ruined the true culture of Bowling. You want to be a hero or a star, start opening up or building new heritage style bowling centers. Bring back the memories of yesteryears. Bring back wooden lanes, bring back Brunswick A-2 Pinsetters. Leave pins as pins not on strings. What a joke.
Have the old telescopes and telescope-foul units in place.

Instead of USBC, bring back ABC and WIBC.
Have sanctioned leagues. Starting from pre sees and bantams all the way up to seniors . Have sanctioned in house tournaments. Bring in outside professional tournaments.
Bring back the open 24/7 centers. Bring back Midnight bowling from 12-3. Bring back Early Bird bowling 4:00 am -7;00 am.
USBC is a joke. They collect sanction fees and give you nothing. Hit a milestone and you now receive an email of you accomplishment. What does the money go to. Havent seen a national or local rep in over 2 decades. Our local assoc. NCAUSBCA doesnt give out awards in decades nor make appearanced as i still receive from others associations. It reminds me of racateering or a cartel. Someone needs to create an alternative system that bypases USBC

Strings are a joke. I have bowled 2 years on strings ( because my friend lives near the string bowling center and I enjoy his company )
As a bowler who has averaged 200+ for many years. The pin leaves are absolutely ridiculous. I have had to shoot a 3 pin many times when hitting the 1-3 pocket because the strings get tangled up and the machine sets up the 3 pin for me to shoot.
You can’t leave a 3 pin when the ball hits the 1-3 pocket. It’s so bad people in the league just laugh.
USBC is full of crap telling me there is no difference between free fall and strings.
Just bowl on it and you will see.
I also agree Bowlero has no regard for league bowlers. They just want parties.
Any conversation I have had with the string pin center employees about the terrible pin action was totally ignored.
It’s so disappointing, they just don’t care.
The Bowlero employees are asked to do so many things that many times You go to the front desk and no one is there because they are making a pizza in the snack bar or pouring a beer in the bar. I don’t blame the employees. It’s 100% management/ Corporate Bowlero. The bowls are seriously under staffed.

Walk, jog, ride my bike on the many bike lanes of Annandale and beyond. 🙂 I wasn’t being snarky, I just never realized bowling was still such a big thing. Sorry to see the experience appears to be getting worse for so many.

They don’t care . The center i bowl at has the filthiest bathroom I’ve ever seen. I’d rather pee outside. All they want is our money. Now there putting string pins in all the centers. Our center will probably be last cuz they don’t care about nothing but the all mighty buck. Open play . League bowlers take the back seat. I won’t be surprised when there isnt anymore leagues. Its ashame really because the league bowlers take pride in the center where open play bowlers come and just destroy the place. I do enjoy going to a non bowlero bowling alley because then we are treated like adults where u can actually bring in a water without being treated like a child.
The only real bowling is duck pin.
When was the last time a Bowlero house cleaned the stupid lights they put above the back counters which don’t exist any more because too many idiots have sat on them and broke them and they don’t get replaced. Whoever spent those millions ought to be fired! Bring back the real counters and give those of us that don’t like sitting at a table somewhere to sit.
