Braddock Road yard sales appear to be connected

The photo of a truck being loaded with unsold goods from a commercial yard sale at 4010 Braddock Road July 28 was taken by a neighbor from inside his house, who is disturbed by these blatant, illegal activities going on just about every weekend.

It’s the same truck that was used to load and unload merchandise for illegal, commercial yard sales July 22 at 3906 Braddock Road and July 14 at 4127 Braddock Road. “This confirms that this is being carried out by a well-organized person or persons determined to continue to break the law,” another neighbor says.

That neighbor urges county code compliance officials to re-investigate 3908 and 4508 Braddock because he thinks the owners or renters of those houses might be the suppliers for other yard sales up and down Braddock Road. “These two residents were the most blatant offenders, and since zoning’s crack down, their yard sales have obviously relocated,” he says.

There were no signs of police patrols or zoning officials on Braddock July 28, despite assurances that they would investigate during the weekend.

There have been complaints from neighborhood residents about traffic congestion, safety issues, blocked driveways, and fears about turning a nice residential community into a “third-world bazaar.” And now the problem seems to be spreading to Columbia Pike near Bailey’s Crossroads.

If you see illegal yard sales in other parts of Annandale/Mason District, please let us know.

  1. Why should we waste our times and let you know?? no one gives a shi! about this…especially the FF zoning nor police. I suggest that we form a group that follows these guys around and set off smoke bombs next to them all day long to keep potential customers away!

  2. Our leadership really does not care about what is going on. I do agree with Anonymous at 7:27 that we should form a group.

  3. Wow, Anonymous at 7:27. You are being a bit shortsighted dismissing the Annandale blog's request for more information. Keeping up the pressure — attracting more media attention is precisely what you want to have happen to embarrass the county into doing something about this — and apparently embarrassment is the only thing that will move them.

  4. Throw out the elected leaders when given the chance. Tessie Wilson should be asked to never set foot in the Mason District again, she has destroyed AHS. We need real change in this county, a viable 2 party system would be a start.

  5. Tessie Wilson is no longer on the School Board. As you recall, she did not run for re-election in 2011. She also represented Braddock District, not Mason District. She also has nothing to do with the yard sales.

  6. A new Saturday and another yard sale today. Unreal! Will our leaders do anything to fix the situation. It has been going on for a long time now.

  7. I have not read previous yard sale posts on the blog, so please excuse me if this has been suggested. If attracting more media attention is a goal to pressure Mason District leaders to address this problem, then why not contact a news outlet like 7 on your side?

  8. stupid cry babies why dont you cry about how ffx county cant even find a dead teenage boy less than a mile away from where they found his car…stupid.
