Chico’s Natural Pet Market is hosting a holiday bazaar

Chico’s Natural Pet Market invites the community to a holiday bazaar/yard sale outside its new location at 6464-A Lincolnia Road in Barcroft Plaza on Saturday, Dec. 23, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

There will be pet supplies, shelving and furniture from the store’s previous location, holiday decorations, kitchen items, and much more.

It’s a great opportunity to pick up some last-minute gifts, says owner Danielle Areco. She also encourages customers to buy items to be donated to shelters and to people in need.

Chico’s is offering gift-wrapping services daily, 2-8 p.m., through Dec. 24. People can bring gifts purchased at other stores, as well as Chico’s. The service is free, but donations are appreciated.

The store has been struggling financially, so Areco is hoping those activities will help her come up with enough money for next month’s rent.

That is the top priority. Beyond that, Areco is trying to raise money to finish building out the store, which the landlord, Federal Realty, promised but didn’t deliver.

Chico’s new space is full of pet supplies.

Areco will add a cat adoption center to the store as soon as she can take care of the immediate needs and raise another $10,000.

All the dog and cat food Chico’s stocks is minimally produced and air-dried or freeze-dried. The store also sells pet clothing, pet toys and accessories, and food for birds and small animals. The aquariums have been set up and fish will be added soon.

  1. Yes, I also didn’t know it was open until I happened upon it while I was in the shopping center. They were still stocking shelves but it was great to see Chico’s back. It’s such a terrific local business and I hope that people will support it to keep it going. We need more mom and pop shops like Chico’s.
