Closure of Culmore library affects voting

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors on April 14 authorized a public hearing on an ordinance to relocate the polling place for the Holmes precinct in Mason District from the Culmore Community Library to Bailey’s Elementary School.
The hearing will be held on May 5, at 4:30 p.m.
The polling place needs to be changed because the library, at 6101 Knollwood Drive in Culmore, is closed for a renovation project. Bailey’s Elementary is next door to the library, at 6111 Knollwood Drive.

If approved, the relocated polling place for the 506 Holmes precinct will be in effect for the Aug. 4 primary election.
For the April 21 special election on redistricting, the Fairfax County Office of Elections notified residents of the Holmes precinct that they can vote at Baileys Elementary School. The Holmes precinct has 847 registered voters.
Early voting on redistricting is available at the Mason Government Center and Thomas Jefferson Library in Mason District through April 18. The polls are open at those locations 1-7 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday. Due to construction at the Mason Government Center, parking is limited.

Are you telling me no one thought of this before–or were the people who pointed it out ignored? I don’t like either scenario.
This matter should have been settled before the library was closed.
