This way to the airport
In case you’re trying to get to Dulles Airport, there’s a helpful sign in front of the Exxon station at 7336 Little River Turnpike in Annandale.
It seems to be the same sign that had been located several blocks to the east at the Pinecrest area on Little River Turnpike where a sidewalk is being constructed.
I suggest they move the sign right in front of a flock camera! It definitely isn’t serving any purpose in pointing out the path to Dulles from middle Annandale…

I think we need more Flock cameras in Annandale. Particularly at known crime “hot spots” in the area (one example is regularly in Annandale Today and is the Blue Diamond lounge). It is a very useful criminal investigation tool for FCPD. The challenge is ensuring the proper use of the data by the government, potentially requiring a warrant for information related to a crime scene or an Amber Alert, which is something the county can do for FCPD. I can also see the private sector seeking to use this technology as a deterrent against crime and as a legal liability protection (if not an insurance reduction) in the near future. Giant on LRT already has a camera for example. This technology is only going to be used more, the question is what rules will be applied to its use. Railing against it is futile, just as is not liking were the cameras are placed.
If you follow the Little River Turnpike past Fairfax towards the Little River in Aldie, you will eventually find your way to the airport. 😀
