Columbia Pines sign smashed

A driver crashed into the brick Columbia Pines entry sign at the intersection of Columbia Pike and Rose Lane in Annandale. There are car parts all over the ground. Are there any witnesses?

    1. That sign is going to need more than a buffing, it will need to be re-built. Too many drivers driving drunk at night and not being nailed by FCPD. This is not the first neighborhood sign to be victimized by reckless drivers.

And what is with the blog, it notes three comments and only one is visible?

      1. it may not really be anyone. My neighborhood has two small entry signs, but we do not have an HOA. They were made presumably by the original developer, but there aren’t any provisions to maintain them.

We have a citizens association that would theoretically band together and raise funds to repair/replace in coordination with the property owner if they got hurt, but the citizens association doesn’t have any direct responsibility over them so it would be very much outside the normal realm of their work.

I’d imagine this is likely the same for these folks… the neighborhood will likely have to band together to get it fixed, knowing it is in all of their interests to have a welcoming neighborhood sign.

  1. Yikes. I hope they find the person who did it and replace the sign soon. Maybe make them pay for it.

On a similar note, does anyone know what happened to the sign outside Munson Hill Towers apartments? Did a car hit that one, too? The metal is smashed on one side. It’s been that way for a while.
