For the second year in a row, the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department will not host in-person open house events at fire stations this year and instead will offer a series of virtual events during Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 3-9.
There is no need to sign up in advance, but those who register by Friday, Sept. 17, will receive a packet of fire safety materials and will be eligible for prizes.
This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme is “Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety!” Activities will focus on educating children and adults about smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and how they help save lives.
The highlight of the week will be a virtual open house on Saturday, Oct. 9 on FCFRD social and digital platforms. Activities are scheduled every day during the week.
