The Fairfax County Park Authority Board recognized the 20th anniversary of Friends of Green Spring (FROGS) at its Nov. 13 meeting.
FROGS supports capital
improvements and educational programs at Green Spring Gardens in the Mason
District. The organization has transformed this park into a regionally
significant garden oasis, with community classes, horticultural programs, plant
sales, concerts, teas, and the master gardener program.

The Park Authority Board also recognized the Friends of
Hidden Oaks Nature Center, a dedicated group of volunteers who spent the past
decade working to preserve, protect, support, and promote this park site in Annandale. Among this group’s accomplishments is the designation of the entire Mason
District as a Community Wildlife Habitat.

The Hidden Oaks friends group supports programs to bring stewardship
education to diverse and economically challenged areas of the community and
provide resources to fill the nature center with new and exciting adventures in
discovery and learning.
