Fairfax County leaders joined developers at a groundbreaking ceremony this week for the Townhomes at Graham Park in the Falls Church area of Mason District.

The 172-unit 8.3-acre development is being built by GP VA Associates, an affiliate of EYA LLC, at 7271 Arlington Blvd. Part of Graham Park Plaza was torn down to provide space for the new townhomes. Federal Realty, is revitalizing the remaining section of the shopping center.

Pricing starts in the mid-$600,000s. Twenty-two units are in Fairfax County’s Affordable Dwelling Unit program.

According to EYA, “the neighborhood is already the fastest-selling townhome community in the region.”

“Revitalization projects are not easy. They are hard. They take a lot of creativity. They take a lot of work. They take people like Federal Realty and EYA that know how to do this and do it in a high-quality way,” said Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chair Jeffery McKay at the groundbreaking.

“That’s the reason we can all celebrate here today,” McKay said. “It’s not just another development. It’s revitalization and transformation of a part of the county where we need to continue that momentum.”

“This project supports one of our key strategic objectives, to provide attainably priced homeownership options in a well-designed, walkable neighborhood,” said Evan Goldman, executive vice president of EYA. “Ultimately, this project will provide wonderful new homes for current and future residents, support the adjacent retail, and provide tax base and workers for the region.”
