Major police training exercise to be held at Lacey Center on Friday morning, beginning at 3 a.m.
Don’t be alarmed if you hear a lot of noise near the Lacey Center early Friday morning. Members of the Fairfax County Police Department’s Special Operations Division will be conducting hostage/barricade training at the Lacey Center (3705 Crest Drive, Annandale) in the Broyhill Crest neighborhood on July 23 beginning at 3 a.m. and continuing through about 2 p.m.
“This will be a full-response scenario, including the Command Bus, Hostage Negotiations Bus, SWAT Vehicles, and Mobile Crisis,” says Lt. Rich Perez. About 40 officers are expected to take part in this training event. Spectators are not welcome.
Police and firefighter training has been taking place throughout the week at the Lacey Center. The building will be demolished in August and a new elementary school will be built on the site.
It is good to know that the police are doing rigorous training to prepare themselves for the worse case scenario. Police all over the world should perform regular training to always prepare.
