Man on cross-country trek with goats spotted in Fairfax
A man with three goats has been seen walking through Fairfax in recent days with a heavily loaded wagon.
According to news reports, his name is Jacob Holiday, and he’s walking across the country to Washington, D.C., with the goal of singing the John Lennon song “Imagine” at the Capitol steps to promote peace.
Commenters on Nextdoor and Reddit spotted him by Wegman’s on Route 29 last week, by the Harley Davidson dealer on Route 50 last weekend, and at Fairfax Circle yesterday. Several people expressed concern about how the animals are holding up during the heat wave.
Holiday, 44, told Melanie Standiford of Midwest Media last November in Nebraska that he started his journey in Minnesota “as an escape from family lies and childhood trauma to find his true self.”
Along the way, he said, he’s gotten food and other help from strangers, which he attributes to God looking out for him.
He also told Sandiford that Jacob Holiday is not his real name. He chose the name while staying at a Navajo community while traveling through the Southwest. He believes the earth is flat and wonders whether the sun is real or it’s an artificial sun put by China.

We saw him a couple times out by Wegmans. Thought the dogs were odd looking. Now I know why.
Thanks for writing about him. I saw him on Thursday camped out just past the Red Lobster on 50. He was sitting on a chair under an umbrella looking at the cars go bye. I saw two of his goats munching on grass nearby. Seems like an interesting character having quite the adventure.
The goats should be taken away from this nut. Animal cruelty.

I stopped to talk to him out of curiosity. Brought a gallon of water, bunch of bananas and Gatorade. I’m not a goat expert, but I do know that they tolerate heat better than most livestock. 99% of the time they’re chilling in the shade, munching on grass and shrubbery along the tree line of wherever he’s at. He’s got plenty of water for them too. It doesn’t take an expert to know that there’s no case of animal cruelty 🙄.
God bless him on his journey. I’d like to meet him and his goats someday. If I’m ever in Fairfax and shopping instead of driving by I’ll have to stop and chat.
I may have just seen him on route 50 near Prosperity Rd.
We saw him Saturday the 18th on Route 50, across from Sweetwater Tavern.
Jabob Holiday is now next to the Thomas Jefferson Library with his goats and a friend. Super sweet man, on his journey to DC to sing his song of “Peace”. God bless you Mr Holiday 🙏🏼

This man and his goats should be embraced just like everyone did with the monks who were traveling.
He is not such a group as they were, but everyone wanted to meet the monks. I have yet to see him, but I have been reading all the comments. Sorry this bothers so many, but I agree with Will, leave the man alone. Unless he can be faulted for some illegal act, he is not doing anything except traveling HIS way.

spoke with him earlier this evening… working toward his goal of singing on the Capitol steps. claims to be a couple of weeks behind schedule, wanted to make DC around the 4th. May not think the same way as many people , but doesn’t appear to be dangerous, just has his own views. Found him to be respectful and human
