A man tried to abduct a child at knifepoint Aug. 24 at the Crystal Woods apartment complex in Lincolnia, the Fairfax County Police Department reports.

A man approached a group of kids in the 5000 block of Caryn Court on Wednesday afternoon, displayed a knife, and grabbed a child, according to an FCPD tweet.

The victim, a preteen girl, broke free and ran. She was not injured. Officers arrested a suspect but have not released any more information.

The child’s father told WUSA/Channel 9 that a man grabbed his daughter by her arm and backpack after she had just gotten home from school. He eventually let her go when her friends started screaming.

  1. Mason District needs to take down the welcome sign that embraces and invites all the maniacs to live here. Are you listening Ms Gross and the BoD.

The scale has been tipped in Mason by making this district a section 8 and homeless Mecca.

Do your job and protect your constituents from this menace.

  2. I’m very glad to hear she’s ok – so brave if her to get away! I hope she is surrounded by love and has access to resources to deal with this traumatic event.
