Mental health hospital in Seven Corners sold
HCA Healthcare has sold Dominion Hospital in Seven Corners to Hill Valley Healthcare for $25.2 million, the Washington Business Journal reported on Sept. 1.
The 116-bed Dominion Hospital, located at 2960 Sleepy Hollow Road, provides behavior and mental health services for children, teens, and adults. It offers treatments for eating disorders, psychological trauma, and alcohol and drug addiction.
In November 2021, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approved a motion to allow the facility to treat patients with substance abuse disorder even if they don’t have a psychiatric diagnosis.
Hill Valley Healthcare owns and operates 43 nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, and rehabilitation centers in multiple states.
Of the 24 senior living and rehabilitation facilities Hill Valley operates in Virginia, 71 percent received one or two stars out of five, according to a report by the Richmond-based CBS affiliate WTVR. That means they performed below the industry average based on health inspection results, staffing data, and quality measures.

Hill Valley facilities in Northern Virginia include Carlin Springs Health and Rehabilitation in Arlington, George Washington Health & Rehabilitation in Alexandria, and Fair Oaks Health & Rehabilitation in Fairfax.
According to the Washington Business Journal, Dominion Hospital has had years of leadership turmoil, with three different CEOs in the past two years.
HCA Healthcare spokesperson Wes Hester told the WBJ that Hill Valley approached the company about purchasing Dominion Hospital “as part of its interest in making additional investments in Virginia.” HCA made the decision to sell “with thoughtful consideration and after carefully evaluating how to best meet our patients’ and communities’ long-term healthcare needs.”
