Police arrest crew for ABC thefts

Fairfax County Police charged an adult and three juveniles with a series of thefts at Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control stores throughout the county, including Bailey’s Crossroads and Lincolnia.

The Criminal Investigations Division has been investigating a crew that has been targeting ABC stores since March.

This crew has been linked to thefts at 15 ABC stores and over $72,000 in stolen merchandise. They have been loading carts with alcohol and fleeing in a vehicle before police could arrive.

The ABC store at 3501B S. Jefferson Street in Leesburg Pike Plaza was hit three times, on May 18, June 11, and July 2.

The crew hit the ABC store at 6206 Little River Turnpike in Landmark Plaza on March 14 and May 9.

Jomarice Evans, 27, of Washington, D.C., was arrested in a neighboring jurisdiction on May 21 on unrelated charges. Following an extensive investigation, detectives linked Evans to multiple ABC thefts in Fairfax County.

FCPD charged Evans with robbery, five counts of grand larceny, five counts of larceny with intent to sell, five counts of transportation of alcohol, five counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, destruction of property, and organized retail theft. He is currently being held in another jurisdiction.

Detectives also identified and charged three juveniles in connection with the thefts.

On June 27, detectives from the FCPD’s Fugitive Tracking and Apprehension Unit, assisted by the U.S. Marshals Service, arrested three juveniles in Washington, D.C. All three were charged with three counts of grand larceny and larceny with intent to sell.

Detectives are currently investigating additional individuals linked to these cases.

In addition to the stores in Lincolnia and Bailey’s Crossroads, the suspects are also connected with thefts at ABC stores in Springfield, McLean, Lorton, Alexandria, Dunn Loring, and Fairfax Station.
