Rotary Club honors best landscapes
The Bailey’s Crossroads Rotary Club on June 24 awarded businesses and other facilities with Blooming Best Awards for excellence in landscaping.
The winners are:
• City Diner — frontage and side landscaping, Route 7 and Rock Spring Avenue.
• McDonald’s — entrance, Route 7 and Carlin Springs Road.
• Olive Garden and Longhorn Steakhouse — entrance, Route 7 and S. Jefferson Street.
• Skyline Entrance — Route 7 and S. Jefferson Street.
• Skyline Apartments — entrance, Seminary Road.
• Auto Stop Auto Repairs — entrance and frontage, Seminary Road by Route 7.
• Woodrow Wilson Library — Knollwood Drive and Glen Carlyn Drive.
• Madison Place — entrance, Columbia Pike and Blair Road.
• Goodwin House — entrance, S. Jefferson Street.
• Bailey’s Crossroads/Seven Corners Revitalization Corporation — special recognition for their support of improved streetscapes.
The Blooming Best awards reflect the Rotary Club’s new focus on the environment, natural resources, and harmony between communities and the environment.
The Bailey’s Crossroads Rotary Club also presented the following awards to members:
• Citizen of the Year — John Matis, administrator at the Moose Lodge.
• Spirit of Rotary — Ben Hester.
• Service Above Self — Jim Holcombe
• Rotarian of the Year — Kate Walter
• Officer of the Year —Pam Martinov
• Honorary Member of the Year — Alice Bailey
• 37 Years of Perfect Attendance — Dave Mercer.
