Rt. 50 McDonald’s project advances
The Fairfax County Planning Commission is recommending the Board of Supervisors approve a zoning special exception to allow for a major upgrade and drive-through ordering at the McDonald’s at 6729 Arlington Blvd. in Falls Church.
The project includes a modernization of the exterior, a minor expansion of the building, elimination of one of the two access points on Arlington Boulevard, a 10-foot-wide sidewalk along the road, and a fence separating the property from Tripps Run.
The Virginia Department of Transportation agreed to add a median on Arlington Boulevard to prevent drivers exiting the restaurant from turning left.

McDonald’s original proposal called for reducing the number of parking spaces from the existing 57 to 29.
In response to concerns raised at the Planning Commission hearing on Sept. 28, McDonald’s agreed to eliminate another two spaces to allow for more landscaping and expand the buffer between the parking lot and the stream.
McDonald’s also agreed to modify its application to provide a highly visible crosswalk in the parking lot.
The Planning Commission members had expressed concerns at the hearing about the potential for backups in the drive-through queue, which would be able to handle 11 cars. McDonald’s agreed to work with county staff if that gets to be a problem.

Lots of crime at this location. Right next to westlawn
I’m there multiple times a week and I have never seen any crime at the mcdonald’s. I’m not saying there isn’t any – it’s a retail/commercial location, so of course there will be some – but compared to the mcdonald’s on patrick henry and rt 50, this location is really nothing to be complaining about. Before I swore off the patrick henry location, the police literally did a narcotics bust at the mcdonalds. There have also been shootings there.
