Sweet Frog coming to Columbia Pike, Annandale

Sweet Frog, a self-service frozen yogurt shop, is coming to the Annandale Shopping Center on Columbia Pike.

The shop will be located between Mathnasium and the expanded Collector’s World, which is moving from a smaller spot in the same shopping center.

Sweet Frog customers choose among seven or eight frozen yogurt flavors and add extras at a toppings bar (sauces, fresh fruit, candy pieces, nuts, cereal, and more). There are usually low-fat, no-fat, and no-sugar-added frozen yogurt options.

Sweet Frog has about 330 shops in the United States and several other countries. Nearby locations include Crossroads Center in Bailey’s Crossroads; Springfield Plaza; Broad Street, Falls Church; and Kingstowne Center.

The company was launched by Derek Cha, who opened the first shop in Richmond in 2009. Cha founded Sweet Frog on Christian principles, with f-r-o-g an acronym for “fully rely on God.” In 2018,  sweetFrog Enterprises was acquired by a wholly owned subsidiary of MTY Food Group.

  1. I remember when these were opening everywhere, then the Froyo fad died down. I guess they are still expanding…

  2. Is this project still going forward? I drive past the location frequently and it doesn’t look like they are doing any work in there. Hoping that Sweet Frog is still going to open.
