Taco Rock is coming to Pinecrest Plaza

Renovations are expected to start soon. [David Siegel]

A Taco Rock restaurant is coming to Pinecrest Plaza on
Little River Turnpike. It will be just like the original Taco Rock in Arlington,
which features “classic Tex Mex street food” made with blue corn tortillas.

Co-owner Nick Cordero hopes to open in May. Although renovations
haven’t started yet, “we want to go as
fast as we can,” he says. Taco Rock is going into the empty space between
Firehouse Subs and another vacant storefront.

The other partners are Nick’s father Mike Cordero, a prominent
chef and restaurateur; Nick’s brother, Anthony Cordero; and Stefano Marzano,
the executive chef and co-founder of the meal delivery service Mighty Meals.

In addition to the Taco Rock that opened in Rosslyn three
months ago, Cordero Hospitality owns Bronson Bierhall in Ballston; G.O.A.T, Don
Tito, and Bronx Pizza & Subs in Clarendon; Barley Mac in Rosslyn; Primetime
Sports Bar & Grill in Fairfax; Don Taco in Old Town, Alexandria; and Rockwood
in Gainesville.
Taco Rock will have a full-service bar with craft cocktails.
Diners order food from a cashier, and servers bring the food to the table.
Some of the most popular items on the menu include the Al
Pastor taco (achiote marinated pork shoulder, sliced char, grilled pineapple, jalapeño
salsa, onions, and cilantro); the Piggy Mac taco (eight-hour slow-roasted
brisket, mac & cheese, bbq aoli, and chives); and flaming crusted hot
poppers.
The Rosslyn Taco Rock recently hosted a hot poppers eating contest; similar events will be planned for the new restaurant.

    1. There's a "Plant Based" section on their menu. I'm not a vegetarian but some of those sound pretty darn good. Fried Avocado Taco, sign me up!

    2. Every place can’t cater to every dietary requirement, order around your restrictions like the rest of us due, instead of feeling so entitled

    3. my understanding is that animal milk and egg is just as harmful and even more addictive than animal and fish flesh…so "vegetarian" isn't going to cut it for the point you trying to drive home…and certain processed vegan food can facilitate lymphatic stagnation as well…eye wonder if a vegan restraunt that actually made healthy vegan food would survive in Axum(Annandale)? Point being, the "vibrational frequency" of the Axumite has to "accelerate"…ultimately its not the restaurant's fault…its the consumer hell bent on catching "the itis" instead of eating healthy and clean

  1. I'm not a fan of their food, I thought A-town's food sucked and was way overpriced. Don Tito's tacos aren't that great either. This is close by, I'll give them a shot.
