Mason District needs better pedestrian and bicycle connections

Old Columbia Pike could use a walkway. Mason District doesn’t have enough safe, connected bicycling routes or pedestrian pathways, which makes it hard to get around without driving. That’s the key message local residents brought to a meeting on the ActiveFairfax transportation initiative April 8 hosted by the Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT).

Community input sought on ActiveFairfax Transportation Plan

Biking on Ravensworth Road in Annandale. The Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) wants to hear comments from the public as part of its process in developing the ActiveFairfax Transportation Plan.  Active transportation means self-propelled, human-powered travel, including walking, biking, hiking, running, and riding, and rolling (scooters, wheelchairs, and strollers). 

Road repaving, restriping plan announced for Mason District

More bike lanes are coming to Mason District. The Virginia Department of Transportation will repave dozens of roads in Mason District over the next few months, which will give the Fairfax County Department of Transportation an opportunity to paint bike lanes on some of those roads.
