Bike shop opens near Wakefield Park trails

A new bike shop is opening here.

Pro Bicycle Shop is having a soft opening Friday, Aug. 10, in its new location in the Ravensworth Shopping Center.

The store, at 5230 Port Royal Road, moved into the spot vacated by Super Pets between DQ and Rite Aid.

Pro Bicycle Shop specializes in mountain bikes, so the company specifically chose that shopping center for its new store because it’s near the trails in Wakefield Park, says manager Andre Reveille, noting, “No other bike shop in the area is that close to a mountain bike park.”

Customers will be able to take bikes for a test ride on the trails. Reveille also plans group rides in Wakefield Park.

The shop carries bikes by Cannondale, Santa Cruz, and Specialized among other brands, and will be the first shop in the area to offer high-end bikes by Yeti Cycles, which can cost up to $9,000.

Pro Bicycle Shop is a full-service store offering bike maintenance and accessories, as well as bicycles for every type of rider, including everyday bikes starting at $500 and kids’ bikes starting at $200. The store will also have some electric bikes starting at around $2,600.

This is the third Pro Bicycle Shop. The first one, in Georgetown, opened in 1958. The other one is on Duke Street in Alexandria.
