The Joint is different from most chiropractic offices. It’s a franchise operation with more than 700 locations offering affordable services.

The offices accept walk-ins, they’re open on evenings and weekends, and they don’t take insurance, says Justin Vélez-Hagan, co-owner of the Lincolnia location. “Our prices are typically lower than co-pays,”

Chiropractors adjust the alignment of the spinal column and joints, “Any misalignments can cause pain, the numbing of fingers and toes, and the inability to move properly,” Vélez-Hagan says.

Problems can happen if people fall, have bad posture, or sleep wrong, he says. “Chiropractors provide just enough quick pressure to improve the alignment.”

An adjustment by a chiropractor “helps you function better all around,” he says. It can improve your well-being and eliminate constant pain.”

Vélez-Hagan had a back problem about 15 years ago, due to sports injuries and activities in the military. At times the back spasms were so bad, he couldn’t walk.

He was urged to have surgery but went to a chiropractor instead. After a few sessions, the back spasms and pain went away. “It changed my physical life,” he says.

Vélez-Hagan secured a franchise with The Joint because “I really want to help people.” He plans to open two more outlets of The Joint, one in Annandale and one in Burke.

  1. I would like to come in because I was told my spine was crooked and when I walk I feel I can’t walk straight. Plus experience neck and lower back discomfort.
