The lychee is the star at the Linjee restaurant

Linjee owner Sam Thana.

Linjee means lychee in Thai, so it’s no surprise that the fruit is featured prominently on the menu at the new Linjee Thai restaurant in the Plaza at Landmark in Lincolnia.

A diner can have a full linjee-based meal, starting with a linjee martini and linjee sweet chili wings, moving on to linjee curry or pad linjee for an entrée, and ending with linjee ice cream.

Linjee is the newest restaurant in the Plaza at Landmark.

There are also plenty of non-linjee dishes – crab rangoon, pork belly kha pao, and deep fried softshell crabs, for example – plus innovative cocktails and mocktails.

Linjee is also the favorite fruit of the 24-year-old owner, Sam Thana. He uses lots of recipes from his mother, who owns the Thai Palace restaurant in Waldorf, Md.

Thana spent lots of time at his family’s restaurant as a child. “That gave me the courage to open my own place,” he says.

Linjee, located at 6244-K Little River Turnpike, is open seven days a week: 3-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, noon-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon-9 p.m. on Sunday.

  1. Great Thai place–easily the best in the area. They’ll actually make something spicy if you ask! Highly recommended, hope this place makes it.

  2. The ambiance of the place is spectacular! It’s easily the nicest restaurant in the center. Once you step inside, you’ll quickly find yourself in a much more upscale environment than you may be expecting. Samy knows what he’s doing!

  3. Ordered delivery via UberEats and it is easily one of the best Thai restaurants in this area. Summer rolls freshness are amazing and pad Thai and also their drunken noodles were far better than my last order from a different place. Will order again!
