Demolition is expected to start in about two weeks on a project at the Ravensworth Shell service station to convert the auto repair shop to a convenience store.

The auto repair business closed on Feb. 22.

The project, at 8011 Braddock Road at the Ravensworth Shopping Center, was approved by the Board of Supervisors in October 2022.

The project will include about 2,500 square feet of ground-floor retail space plus a small upper level with 200 square feet of office space. The existing six fuel pumps will remain.

  1. Why are the fuel pumps still going to be there.? Who will maintain them? If the panned store does not dispense gas, it would appear to be a fire hazard.

  2. That’s too bad their auto repair people were great. I hope they can find good jobs. With their drastically overpriced gasoline we will never have a reason to go there again. They should sell out and the County approve something useful to go there.

  3. Cannot believe the owners of this property would suddenly destroy a successful car repair business. The repair shop is a fixture in the community and has a solid reputation for reliability and quality service. It is thriving with faithful repeat customers. Now they want to throw away 60 years of success to sell overpriced beef jerky and Monster Energy drinks?
