Three suspects indicted for homicides
A grand jury on Sept. 21 has indicted suspects in three homicides that occurred during the past year following preliminary hearings in the Fairfax County General District Court, Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano announced on Sept. 25.
Musa Kargbo, 43, of Prince George’s County, was charged with second-degree murder for stabbing Isha Koroma, 26, outside of her workplace in Annandale on Nov. 7, 2025. Koroma was a teacher who worked with an autistic child in the child’s home in the 3900 block of Terrace Drive.
At a preliminary hearing on Aug. 27, witnesses testified that the victim was found unresponsive and suffering from multiple sharp-force trauma injuries to the face and neck.
Surveillance footage captured a man exiting a car parked near the incident, donning a mask, walking toward the area where the victim was found, and then running back to the car carrying a bag. The same car was registered to both the victim and Kargbo. When detectives executed a search warrant, they found blood in the car.
A trial for Kargbo is set for Jan. 11, 2027.

Anibal Armando Chavarria Muy, 39, was charged with second-degree murder for stabbing Hugo Romero Vasquez, 32, at his home in Bailey’s Crossroads on March 29, 2026.
At a preliminary hearing on Aug. 26, a witness, who also lived at that residence, testified that he had overheard a verbal confrontation between the defendant and the victim.
Fairfax County detectives testified that the victim was found in the home with multiple severe stab wounds, and that Chavarria Muy confessed to stabbing Romero Vasquez with a machete when he was arrested.
A machete with a blood-like substance on the blade was recovered from the defendant’s vehicle. A trial is scheduled for Feb. 1, 2027.
The third indictment is for Marvin Morales Ortez, 24, who had been charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony for shooting and killing Marvin Ernesto Morales, 40, on Dec. 17, 2025, at their shared address in Reston.
Another resident of the house testified at a preliminary hearing that she heard six gunshots upstairs, called 911, and saw the defendant in a distinctive black-and-white sweatshirt leaving after the shooting.
When Morales Ortez was arrested a short while later in the nearby woods, he was carrying a 9mm semi-automatic handgun. Detectives had found 9mm cartridges at the scene. A trial is set for Dec. 7.
