Waitlist opens for affordable housing

Rosedale Manor in Bailey’s Crossroads has openings for housing voucher recipients.

The Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FCRHA) is opening the application waitlist for the Project-Based Voucher units from Feb. 2 through Feb. 8.

Properties accepting waitlist applications are part of the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) – Project-Based Voucher program. The type of available housing ranges from studio apartments to four-bedroom units and townhouses.

Households with one of these vouchers typically pay up to 35 percent of their adjusted monthly income toward rent. The FCRHA pays the remaining portion of the rent to the owner.

The RAD program generally serves households with incomes up to 50 percent of the median income.

Available properties are located throughout Fairfax County, including these communities in the Annandale/Mason District area:

  • Heritage Woods, 4201 Americana Drive, Annandale.
  • Greenwood Apartments, 3077 Patrick Henry Drive, Seven Corners.
  • Kingsley Park, 3139 Allen St., Falls Church.
  • Rosedale Manor, 3401 Spring Lane, Bailey’s Crossroads.
  • Villages at Falls Church, 6232 Arlington Blvd., Seven Corners.

Applications will be selected at random and placed on the waitlist. Once a unit becomes available, the waitlist applicants will be contacted, screened, and determined eligible based on income level, household size, and the size of the rental unit.

The Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development screens applicants for eligibility under U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development rules and applies local preferences. Those preferences can be found at: https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/housing/rentalhousing/rad

To apply, visit the Fairfax County Housing and Community Development website beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 2.

Application instructions are available through Rent Café. If you need assistance, call the Waitlist Hotline at 703-449-9050.
