Someone shot a vehicle on the Little River Turnpike ramp on the beltway during the early morning of Aug. 25, the Virginia State Police reports.

An individual called the police at 4:50 a.m. to say his vehicle was shot as he was driving northbound on I-495 approaching exit 52B in Annandale. He pulled over, as did another vehicle.

Both vehicles stopped on the exit ramp, “at which time the shooting suspect exited his vehicle and fired multiple shots at the victim. The shooting suspect then got back into his vehicle and drove away.” according to the state police. “The victim was not injured during the incident.”

The police aren’t releasing details about the types of vehicles involved, said Corrine Geller, public relations director for the Virginia State Police. It isn’t known why the two vehicles pulled over or whether the shooter knows the victim.

The state police’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Fairfax Field Office is investigating the incident. Officers are working with VDOT to review surveillance video and are searching for witnesses.
