Fairfax County police have charged an additional man for his role in the “street takeover” last month in the Springfield area of Mason District.

On April 19, Baltimore County Police, in coordination with FCPD, arrested Brandon Extecoc Santos, 20, of Parkville, Md.

Santos was charged with abduction, assaulting a law enforcement officer, wearing a mask in public, and obstruction of justice. He is being held in Baltimore County pending extradition to Fairfax County.

When a police officer arrived at a commercial parking lot in the 6600 block of Electronic Drive at 3 a.m. on March 31, she found a large group of individuals driving recklessly and in circles.

A large group of individuals surrounded the officer’s cruiser. At least one attempted to remove the license plate from the cruiser. The group prevented the officer from moving in any direction. They jumped on her cruiser and continuously banged on the windows.

At least one man was hanging outside of a vehicle brandishing a rifle. Dozens of officers responded from across the county to assist, and the mob of “street takeover” participants began to disperse.

One officer suffered minor injuries after being struck by a man in the crowd driving off at a high rate of speed.

Detectives obtained warrants for an 18-year-old man from Maryland, a 20-year-old man from Pennsylvania, and a 17-year-old from Arlington. Carlos A. Martinez Jr., 18, from Woodbridge was charged with reckless driving after a crash involving a cruiser.

Additional arrests are anticipated as FCPD detectives continue to investigate the incident.

  1. Good. Now let’s hope FFX district attorney actually follows through with the charges and doesn’t let them off with a slap on the wrist. The only way these events will lessen is if there are actual consequences for this illegal behavior.

  2. Santos should spend the rest of his life behind bars after what happened in Springfield last month. No exceptions. )<
