Bank of America coming to Gatehouse Plaza

Bank of America wants to open a branch with a drive-through at the former site of Uno Pizzeria & Grill at Gatehouse Plaza in Merrifield.

But the company wasn’t able to do so until the Board of Supervisors approved a Comprehensive Plan amendment allowing that to happen.

The existing Comprehensive Plan for that shopping center limits the number of drive-through uses at Gatehouse Plaza to no more than four.

On Oct. 27, the board approved a Comprehensive Plan amendment deleting that requirement, along with a rezoning application, to allow Bank of America to have an ATM drive-through. The project also includes two marked crosswalks and a sidewalk connection to the existing Arlington Boulevard trail.

Uno closed in January 2025.
