Beech Tree Elementary School Principal Terry Phillips informed parents and the community Dec. 3 that she will be leaving the school Dec. 13 to become an educational specialist in the Fairfax County Public Schools’ Title I office. Phillips had been led Beech Tree for seven and a-half years.
Dan Parris, the Cluster 3 assistant superintendent, invited to parents to a meeting at the school Dec. 12, 7 p.m., to discuss the principal-selection process. Parris also asked parents to submit written input on the skills, experience, and leadership characteristics needed for Beech Tree Elementary School,” along with “any challenges or issues that a new principal will need to address.” People should email their suggestions to Beth Boivin, of FCPS Human Resources by Dec. 18.
Until a new principal is named, Keith Hall will serve as interim principal. Hall most recently served as interim principal at Bailey’s Elementary School.
