Cafe specializing in chai tea coming to Falls Church

The future home of Karak House Coffee on Annandale Road.

Karak House Coffee Co. is coming to the Bill Page retail strip in the Falls Church area of Mason District.

Adnan Akhtar, the franchisee who is partnering with his brother, anticipates the café, located at 3000 Annandale Road, will open in a couple of months. Reconstruction of the interior is nearly finished.

Karak House will feature Karak chai, a strong variety of the drink made from black tea, evaporated milk, sugar, cardamom, and other spices.

“I love chai,” Akhtar said, noting it’s a key element of South Asian culture. “It’s the king of drinks.”

The café will also offer regular and specialty coffee drinks, like espresso and latte varieties, along with milk cakes, cheesecake, croissants, and other desserts.

Akhtar, a resident of Annandale, wants Karak House to be “a family-oriented place where people can sit with their friends and families or work on a laptop. We want to be a part of the community where people can hang out and not just grab and go.”

This will be the first Karak House Coffee Co. outlet in Virginia. A second one is planned for Sterling in Loudoun County.
