Delays, detour planned for Gallows Road bridge over beltway

To prepare for the traffic shift, lane closures will occur on Gallows Road overnight on Monday, June 27, from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday. Traffic shift work is weather permitting.

Once the new northbound bridge is open, on or about July 5, crews will close the Gallows Road ramp heading north on the beltway completely for five to six weeks. Motorists will be detoured to Arlington Boulevard (Route 50) to access I-495 north.

 This closure is needed for crews to raise the roadway four feet and complete work on the retaining wall and drainage. It’s all part of the mutlibillion dollar beltway HOT (high-occupancy toll) lanes project.
