Exhibit at Beanetics features artworks by local pastor

Paintings by Casey Wait

By James Albright, chair of the Mason District Arts Council

Artopolis and Beanetics Coffee Roasters welcome new works by acclaimed local artist Casey Wait at an opening reception on March 6, 5-7 p.m.

The opening offers a chance to meet the artist and learn about her art and process. Wait’s exciting and dynamic work will be displayed at Beanetics, at 7026 Columbia Pike in Annandale, for the next two months.

Wait describes herself as an abstract and figurative mixed-media artist whose work bridges the realms of art and spirituality. Combining her creative practice with her role as a pastor (at John Calvin Presbyterian Church in Annandale), she crafts pieces that delve deeply into themes of humanity, creation, and the divine.

Wait’s art invites viewers into a dialogue, offering a contemplative space to explore the shared experiences of life, faith, and beauty. Her artistic practice arises from a profound love of humanity and the natural world, seeking to expand understanding of how love and beauty manifest in everyday life.

Artopolis, a locally organized art project, sponsors art events and shows, mostly at Beanetics, but also at other locations throughout the community.

This show, Artopolis VII, continues a tradition of showcasing new and established artists with a connection to our community. This approach is in keeping with the goals of the Mason District Arts Council, which encourages local businesses and institutions to provide space for art and artists. Beanetics has partnered with Artopolis since the project’s inception in 2023.

Coffee and small snacks will be available for purchase at the March 6 exhibit opening. For more information about this show, previous shows, or how to participate in upcoming activities, contact Artopolis at [email protected].
