FCPS Superintendent drops proposal for longer school days
Fairfax County Superintendent Jack Dale recommends that FCPS stick with its original calendar, which calls for April 12 and June 23, 24, and 25 to be used as make-up days for the school days lost to the heavy snowfall earlier this month.
Dale had earlier proposed two other options that called for the school day to be lengthened by 30 or 45 minutes to make up for the lost instructional time.
Parents who commented on the FCPS Facebook page overwhelmingly favored adding days at the end of the school year rather than making the school day longer. Many said longer school days would mean less time for family time, homework, and extracurricular activities. Several commenters also question why FCPS publishes a calendar with snow make-up days if it’s not going to follow it.
The school board will make a final decision on the make-up plan at its March 4 meeting.
This is a comment not related to this posting, but I don't know where else to post this. Do you cover school events that the community is invited to attend, like yesterday's Just World Festival at Annandale HS?
Sure. If you know about a school or community event you think we should cover let me know.

This seems to me to be a position that is heavily loaded with common sense. Was there a response to these questions?
