Fire department honors man who saved woman from drowning in Lake Barcroft

Lake Barcroft resident Phil Horowitz was honored with a Citizen Lifesaving Award by the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department for rescuing a woman who fell into Lake Barcroft.

After hearing a women’s panicked screams that she could not swim, Horowitz jumped into the lake to save her on April 3. Due to his quick actions, the individual was unharmed and did not require any further assistance, the FCFRD reports. “By immediately acting in this situation and providing critical assistance, Mr. Horowitz significantly contributed to saving this person’s life.”

The award was presented at the Bailey’s Crossroads Fire Station by Fire Chief Richard Bowers and the firefighters in the station’s A-shift.
